Learn techniques that give you the skills and confidence to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Are you bored of reps, sets and treadmills? The most common feedback from students is they’re having so much fun on the mat that they forget they’re exercising.

We all lead busy lives - between work, social obligations and kids - learning martial arts is a truly mindful experience that offers you a break from the hustle of the day.

Many people start martial arts because they’re at a loss with their current exercise routine and nothing they try seems to stick. Real talk, when exercise feels like a chore it's easy to lose motivation.

Or you might feel vulnerable and unprepared for potentially dangerous situations. We get it, it’s scary to think about the possibility of feeling under threat without the knowledge or skills to protect yourself or your loved ones.

FAQs

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on ground fighting and grappling techniques. It originated in Brazil in the early 20th century and has been developed from the principles of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.

BJJ is known for its emphasis on leverage, technique, and submission holds, rather than relying solely on strength and striking techniques. Practitioners of BJJ aim to gain a dominant position on the ground and use joint locks, chokes, and other submission techniques to force their opponents to tap out or surrender.

Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, is a combat sport and martial art that originated in Thailand. It is characterised by its use of powerful strikes, including punches, kicks, knees, and elbows, as well as clinch work and sweeps.

In Muay Thai, fighters aim to use their entire body as a weapon, with strikes that are often delivered with incredible speed and power. The sport is known for its physical and mental demands, as well as its emphasis on conditioning and technique.

Muay Thai has gained popularity around the world as a competitive sport and is also commonly used in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) competitions as it is arguably the most effective form of striking combat.

It is also often used for fitness and self-defence purposes, and many people find it to be a challenging and rewarding way to improve their overall health and well-being.

Whether you should do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) or Muay Thai depends on your personal preferences and goals. Both martial arts offer unique benefits and challenges.

BJJ is a ground-based martial art that emphasises grappling and submission holds. It is often described as the "gentle art" because it relies on leverage and technique rather than brute strength. BJJ can be a good choice if you enjoy close-quarters combat and want to learn effective self-defence techniques. It can also be a great workout that helps improve your flexibility, coordination, and overall fitness.

Muay Thai, on the other hand, is a stand-up striking art that emphasises powerful kicks, punches, knees, and elbows. It can be a good choice if you want to improve your striking skills and learn effective self-defence techniques for a range of real-world situations. Muay Thai is also a high-intensity workout that can improve your cardiovascular health, strength, and endurance.

Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your personal goals and interests. If possible, try attending a few classes of each martial art to see which one you enjoy more and feel more motivated to continue practising.
